Conversion rate

Conversion rate is the share of guests (or stays) who buy something from your honesty shop. It tells you whether the shop is being noticed and used, separate from how much each buyer spends.

What it means

Your honesty shop's conversion rate is the proportion of guests who actually buy something. If 6 of every 10 stays result in at least one purchase, your conversion rate is 60%.

Why it matters

Conversion separates two very different problems. Low conversion means guests aren't noticing, aren't tempted, or can't easily pay — a visibility, range or payment issue. High conversion but low takings means guests are buying, but the range or pricing isn't capturing much per stay. Knowing which you have tells you what to change.

What moves it

The biggest levers are position (a shop guests pass in their first thirty seconds converts far better than one tucked away), effortless payment, clear pricing, and stocking the arrival moment when guests are tired and hungry.

How it relates to footfall

Conversion works hand in hand with footfall: footfall is how many people pass the shelf, conversion is how many of them buy. For the practical playbook on lifting both, see how to set up an honesty shop that actually pays.
